Indonesia's E33G remote worker visa lets you live in Bali, or anywhere in Indonesia, for a year while working for a company abroad. You need USD 60,000 a year and USD 2,000 in the bank, and you apply online.

  2. You normally apply from abroad. Visa agencies say switching from a visa on arrival inside Indonesia is possible in some cases.
  3. Enter within 90 days of the visa being issued. Agencies say your fingerprints are taken and your stay permit, the ITAS, is issued when you arrive.

How long it takes
About five working days, according to visa agencies.

The documents

The main items. Your consulate's own checklist is the one that counts, so check it before you start.

  • Passport valid six months, and a photo
  • A CV
  • An employment contract with a company outside Indonesia
  • Proof of USD 60,000 a year
  • Three months of bank statements showing USD 2,000
  • Your travel plans

Health insurance

Visa agencies disagree on whether it's required, so check the portal when you apply.

Family, renewing and tax

Family
Guides say a spouse and children each need their own family visa (E31B for a spouse, E31E for a child).
Renewing
Agencies disagree on how renewing works, from one more year to applying again from scratch. It doesn't lead to permanent stay.
Tax
More than 183 days in 12 months. Since 9 December 2025 (PER-23/PJ/2025) a stay permit valid for more than 183 days, such as the E33G, can count as intending to stay, so you can be resident with fewer days. No official source confirms a tax exemption

Worth knowing

  • December 2025: tax firms say a new rule lets a stay permit of more than 183 days make you tax resident, whatever your day count.
