Jobs

Companies that let you work from anywhere

44 employers whose own policies let you work away from an office, from fully remote companies that hire in dozens of countries to office jobs that give you a few weeks abroad each year. For each one: what the policy says, where they hire, how long you can work from another country, and where we found it.

"Work from anywhere" almost never means anywhere, for as long as you like. Even fully remote companies can only employ you in countries where they can run payroll, and staying abroad too long can make you, or them, liable for tax there. Most need you to have the right to work where you are, and many need your manager's approval. Ask before you book. Count your days

Five things to ask before you accept

  1. Where can I live, and where can I travel? They are different questions. A company might hire you only in the UK but let you work from Portugal for a month. Get both answers in writing.
  2. How many days abroad, and how are they counted? Per year or per rolling 12 months? Per country or in total? Does one day away use up a whole week? Google, for one, now counts in weeks.
  3. Will I be an employee or a contractor? Many remote companies employ people abroad through an employer of record, which is a proper job with local benefits. Others use contracts, which leave tax and pension to you. How employers of record work
  4. Who checks the visa and tax side? A company's permission is not a visa. You still need the right to work wherever you are, and long stays can make you tax resident. Check a visa
  5. What happens to my pay if I move? Some companies pay the same wherever you live; others adjust for location. Automattic pays the same range everywhere; Doist adjusts. Check your own employer's rules

Days abroad a year, where the company says

Most fully remote companies don't publish a limit, so they aren't in this table. That doesn't mean there isn't one.

Changed recently

Policies shift, usually towards more office time. These are the changes worth knowing about.

  • Booking.com October 2026

Booking.com went to court to make at least two office days a week compulsory for about 7,000 staff in Amsterdam, after its works council refused. A ruling is due at the end of October if the two sides don't agree first.

  • Bank of England August 2026

MPs criticised its 40 days abroad. The Bank defended the policy and kept it.

  • Revolut June 2026

From 2027, graduates and interns must be in the office at least three days a week for their first year. Revolut says its remote-first policy is unchanged for everyone else, and its careers page still offers the 120-day workation.

GitLab announced about 350 job cuts (14%) and said it would stop operating in 22 countries. Still all-remote, but in fewer places.

Where this comes from. Each company's own careers pages, handbooks and announcements wherever we could find them, and named press reports where we couldn't, checked on 9 October 2026. Quotes are the companies' own words. Where a figure only appears in a job advert or the press, the card says so. Companies whose policy we couldn't confirm are left out.

Not a job offer, and not tax advice. Policies change and often vary by role, team and country. What your contract and your manager say is what counts. We are not paid by any company on this page.
