The review
Cigna Global is what you buy when the monthly nomad plans have stopped being enough: an international health policy you hold like any other, rather than travel cover you renew between trips.
It is sold in modules. The core covers inpatient and daypatient treatment, capped at a million dollars a year on Silver, two million on Gold and unlimited on Platinum. Outpatient, dental and vision, wellbeing and evacuation are each added separately, so two people on the same tier can be paying very different premiums.
Two things set it apart. There is no upper age limit, which matters if you are over 55 and have found most nomad insurers will not take you. And it is a real health plan, so it is worth getting a quote before assuming it is out of reach.
What works
- No upper age limit on joining or renewing
- Platinum pays inpatient treatment in full
- Modular: add outpatient, dental, vision, evacuation
- Large global network with support in many languages
What does not
- No public pricing at all; quote only
- Much more expensive than the nomad-branded plans
- Annual contract, not month to month
- Cover in the USA is priced separately and costs more
