The review
SafetyWing built Nomad Insurance for people who are already travelling, and it shows in the mechanics: you can start a policy from abroad, it renews every four weeks until you stop it, and there is no annual contract to sign.
The Essential tier is what most people mean when they say SafetyWing. It covers emergency medical treatment up to $250,000 worldwide, with the USA available as a paid add-on and a limited amount of cover in your own country. The Complete tier is a different product at several times the price, adding routine care, and is the one to look at if you have stopped thinking of yourself as a tourist.
What it does not do is cover anything you were already being treated for, and it is not health insurance in the sense of a policy you keep for decades. Read the Genki entry below if that is what you are after.
