The safest of the five on the two things that actually decide how a booking goes. Its supplier contract requires operators to offer prices equal to or better than their own website, which no one else here promises, so you are unlikely to be paying for the convenience. And free cancellation up to 24 hours before is the written default rather than something that varies listing by listing. Europe is where its depth shows — Rome alone lists over four thousand things. The catch is the tail: nearly a fifth of its reviews are one star, the worst here.

The verdict

The one for Asia, and not by a small margin — its own filing to American regulators puts 86.6% of transaction value with customers in the Asia-Pacific region. What makes it worth a place here for anyone, though, is everything it sells around the activity: metro passes, airport transfers, rail passes, ferries and eSIMs. When you have just landed somewhere and need a transit card before you need a walking tour, nothing else on this page does that job. Cancellation is its weak point, with no platform-wide window and a middle tier that needs a human to approve your refund.

The biggest by a distance, and if somewhere obscure has anything bookable online it is most likely here: four hundred thousand experiences from sixty-five thousand operators. It also has the most settled reputation on the page, over three hundred thousand reviews averaging 4.5. The thing to know before booking is structural. Its supplier agreement, filed publicly with American regulators, gives Viator the right to set the retail price rather than passing on the operator's — so this is the one where checking the operator direct is worth thirty seconds.

The verdict

The only one here that is not really a tour marketplace. Tiqets sells admission — timed entry to museums, galleries and landmarks, instant to your phone, working offline, with nothing to print. That is a different errand from booking a guided tour, and on a Saturday in a city you have just moved to it is usually the one you actually want. It is now owned by Expedia. The thing to watch is that it makes no promise about price, and for state museums with cheap official tickets you can pay noticeably more than the door.

The verdict

The answer to the gap the others leave. GetYourGuide owns Europe, Klook owns Asia, Viator is broad but American-weighted, and none of them is strong across Latin America. Civitatis is — it was built for the Spanish-speaking market and still operates there properly, with around ninety thousand activities in four thousand two hundred destinations. It also has the best review record on this page by some way. The limitation is honest and worth stating: the site works perfectly well in English, but in Spain and Latin America part of the guided-tour catalogue runs in Spanish only.
